Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say

Arrest Details

A male celebrity associated with the BBC dance competition was detained on 13 October 2025 under suspicion of rape, though no formal accusations will be pursued, law enforcement authorities confirmed. The individual, whose identity remains confidential, was granted bail following the arrest, with the release date extended to 7 April 2026 to allow further inquiries. Hertfordshire Police disclosed that after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, investigators concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed with criminal charges.

Investigation Update

“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”

The Sun had previously reported that the man was accused of sexually assaulting a woman after a BBC event. The woman, who was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, had connected with him through his involvement in the competition. The current case is unrelated to the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

Previous Incidents

Earlier in August, another individual linked to the hit BBC dance show was also arrested for rape, alongside allegations of non-consensual intimate image abuse. The role of this second person in the program remains unclear. The latest decision marks the conclusion of the investigation into the first star, with no charges anticipated.
