Channel 4 scraps Bake Off episode starring Scott Mills

Channel 4 Cancels Bake Off Episode with Scott Mills

Channel 4 has confirmed that an episode of The Great British Bake Off featuring DJ Scott Mills will not be shown. Mills, a former Radio 2 breakfast show host, was dismissed by the BBC in March following allegations of historical sexual misconduct. The incident involved a teenage boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000, with the Metropolitan Police launching an investigation in 2016. Prosecutors closed the case in 2019, citing insufficient evidence to proceed with charges.

The BBC became aware of the allegations after learning the alleged victim was under the age of 16. Despite cooperating fully with the police inquiry and providing responses in 2018, Mills was removed from the line-up last month. Channel 4 had already recorded the episode for Stand Up To Cancer but opted to replace it with an alternative segment. A statement from the broadcaster said: “Acknowledging the gravity of the accusations against Scott, we feel it is best to delay airing his episode until further notice.”

Scott Mills’ Removal from Other Projects

Following his BBC exit, Mills has also been taken off the schedule for Boyzone’s upcoming reunion concerts at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in June. Originally set to act as the “special guest DJ” for both shows, his name is now absent from promotional materials. It remains unclear whether his departure was voluntary or due to the recent allegations.

“What a dream to support the lads this summer, it’s going to be two nights of big tunes, big singalongs and plenty of 90s nostalgia. I hope you’re ready!”

Other acts supporting Boyzone include S Club and B*Witched. Additionally, Mills has stepped down from his role as an ambassador for the MS Society UK. The charity noted: “Scott Mills has been a valued ambassador for over a decade. In light of current developments, he is stepping back from this role while we assess the situation.”

Neuroblastoma UK also announced their decision to end their partnership with Mills, who had served as a patron since 2021. In a statement, Mills reiterated his stance: “An allegation was made against me in 2016 regarding a historic sexual offence. I fully cooperated with the police investigation, which concluded in 2018 without criminal charges. Given the time elapsed and the closure of the case, I hope the public and media will respect my choice to remain silent.”
