Child Dies in Suspected Dog Attack, Police Confirm

Cleveland Police confirmed the death of a child following a suspected dog attack. The incident occurred at an address on Hardale Grove in Dormanstown, Redcar, around 1:30 PM BST, after reports of concern for a child were received. Officers arrived to find the child deceased, with authorities indicating the cause of death was likely a dog bite.

During the response, one dog was euthanized on-site, while another at the residence was confiscated for further examination. The BBC has requested details from police about the child’s age and the breeds of the dogs involved. North East Ambulance Service dispatched three teams, with one individual transported to the hospital for additional care.

“This is a deeply troubling event, and we are with the family in their time of need,” said District Commander Emily Harrison. “I would urge anyone with concerns or information to contact an officer.” Officers remain at the scene as an investigation continues.
