Man jailed after grooming girl he met on Roblox

Carlo Tritta, 19, has received a 28-month prison sentence for grooming a 14-year-old girl he encountered on the Roblox gaming platform. The teenager, from Greater Manchester, initially claimed to be 15 years old before revealing her true age in December 2024. Tritta, based in Eastleigh, Hampshire, confessed to creating indecent images of a child, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, and compelling a girl aged 13 to 15 to observe a sexual act.

Victim’s account of coercion

Det Supt Rod Kenny, from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, highlighted that the victim believed she was in a loving relationship, but it was rooted in control and manipulation. Tritta used tactics like flattery and gifts to build trust before escalating his behavior. He shifted their conversations to private messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Snapchat, where he expressed affection for her.

“The young girl in this case thought she was in a loving relationship but it was founded in coercion, control and abuse.”

Tritta also sent takeaway food and a secret phone to the girl’s residence. Initially, their interactions centered on the game they played, but the messages quickly became more unsettling. His actions led to the girl feeling trapped and fearful, with her mother stating the family had become “constantly on edge” at home, no longer feeling secure.

Offender’s actions and legal violations

Tritta was arrested and released on police bail, which included restrictions on contacting the girl or visiting her home. However, he disregarded these conditions, making two trips over 200 miles (322km) from Hampshire to the victim’s address. During these visits, he damaged property, intimidated witnesses, and even reported her family to social services, falsely accusing her mother of having drugs in the home.

“His actions, for his own sexual gratification, have caused fear and anxiety for the young victim and her family,”

“Not only is Tritta a sexual predator, but he has also exhibited deeply troubling behaviour by attending the girl’s address in breach of his bail and a court order, damaging property and trying to interfere with witnesses.”

The case emerged when the girl’s mother discovered a message on her daughter’s phone in August 2025. Tritta’s abuse was uncovered after he broke the doorbell camera and entered the home uninvited, attempting to persuade the girl to withdraw her testimony. The victim described feeling “scared of going downstairs at night” due to Tritta’s presence, while her mother noted the family now experiences “fear and anxiety” and requires therapy to cope.

Roblox’s response to the incident

A Roblox spokesperson expressed sadness over the case, acknowledging the platform’s role in enabling the interaction. They mentioned that new age verification checks were introduced in January 2025 to restrict communication between users of different age groups. The company emphasized its policies against child exploitation and highlighted safety systems designed to block harmful content sharing and limit chats for younger users.

Roblox also noted collaboration with law enforcement to assist in investigations. Despite these measures, the spokesperson admitted no system is flawless, but the platform continues to enhance protections regularly.
