Woman, 19, killed in dog attack at house
A 19-year-old woman was found dead following a dog attack at a property in Essex. Police were alerted to Long Hide, a location in the village of Leaden Roding near Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday. When they arrived, they discovered the victim with severe injuries. Despite the emergency services’ best efforts, she was declared dead at the scene, Essex Police confirmed.
A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for a dog dangerously out of control, which caused fatal injuries. He remains in custody. The animal was seized, and specialist officers secured the area to ensure safety, the police added.
“Essex Police is aware that this event will deeply affect the local community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who passed away. Officers will be present in the area today, so please approach them if you have information or concerns. A team of experienced detectives is conducting the investigation to determine the full circumstances.”
