AA fined and ordered to refund learner drivers for hidden fees
AA and BSM Driving Schools Ordered to Refund Learners Over Unstated Costs
The Automobile Association Developments has been penalized £4.2 million and required to issue refunds to tens of thousands of learner drivers for not clearly stating lesson prices before online bookings, according to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
Following an inquiry, the CMA concluded that the driving schools violated consumer regulations by concealing total fees. Over 80,000 customers affected by the oversight will receive a collective £760,000, averaging roughly £9 per individual. The AA acknowledged its legal breach and consented to the resolution.
The CMA highlighted that the AA Driving School and BSM failed to provide transparent pricing information, leading to customer dissatisfaction.
