Ice Cube and ‘War of the Worlds’ top the Razzies
The 46th Razzie Awards have unveiled their winners, with one film claiming multiple dubious titles. The 2025 version of “War of the Worlds” emerged as the biggest recipient of the year’s worst accolades, securing five categories including worst picture, worst remake/rip-off sequel, worst director, worst screenplay, and worst actor for Ice Cube. This year’s entry, like its 2005 predecessor starring Tom Cruise, adapts H.G. Wells’ 1898 novel, yet it fell short of the worst screen combo award, which went to the seven CGI dwarfs in Disney’s live-action “Snow White” (2025). The artificial ensemble also claimed the worst supporting actor trophy.
Humorous Take on Cinema’s Failures
The Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, humorously celebrate cinematic flops by awarding the worst in a lighthearted critique of film quality. As tradition dictates, the results were announced the day prior to the Academy Awards ceremony, adding to the Oscar weekend’s cultural backdrop. This season’s Redeemer Award honored Kate Hudson for her role in “Song Sung Blue,” following her 2021 Razzie for worst actress in “Music.”
